Owner: John Clark
I built this kiln in 1988, with the help of a local welder, from a set of plans provided by a guy in New Mexico named Larry Fielder (if I remember correctly). The kiln’s interior dimensions are 46″ x 28″ x 18″. It’s a top-loader, with an element in the lid and two around the sides. It is 45 amps @ 240 volts, for a power output of 10,800 watts. The welded angle-iron frame contains an outer layer of 3″-thick “Thermo 12” calcium carbonate block and an interior layer of 1″ ceramic fiber insulation. The bottom is lined with conventional fire brick. The controller is a Digitry GB-1 digital controller. See photos above.
